Boo Boo Kitty is a blocky font with a halftone style gradient texture. One of the big inspirations for this font was retro comic printing so I tried to keep the background slightly messy to capture that look.
 
It was originally released in 1997 as an all-caps font with mixed plain and textured characters but I recently updated it to include lowercase letters and full versions of both background options.

Boo Boo Kitty

Years ago, I came across a vintage playbill and was struck by its lettering. The detailed floral pattern surrounded by thick outlines stayed in my mind even though the play’s name and cast have faded. I finally tried to recreate the style from memory and Forgotten Playbill is the result.
 
While all letters are actually capitals, the uppercase rotate slightly counterclockwise and the lowercase slightly clockwise. I suggest alternating between the two to reproduce my mystery inspiration.

Herbaceous Border features blocky letters made up of an intricate pattern of leaves and vines. It should definitely be used for headlines to get the most out of the details.
 
All of the letters are capitals but the lowercase characters provide an alternative set of leafy designs.

Paper Hearts was designed to mimic childhood construction paper creations. It's perfect for a homemade Valentine's Day feel without the safety scissors and glue sticks.
 
The font was updated in 2013 to add lowercase characters and again in 2023 to add Outline, Color, and Outline Color variations. Color and Outline Color are OpenType SVG files and, while the festive colors should appear in recent Adobe products, the web fonts may not be supported across all browsers.

Paper Hearts

Based on a vintage French advertisement, Publicité d'époque was designed to resemble a chain of stars. It features a looping, exaggerated cursive and contains enough symbols to write in its native tongue.

Additional Characters

Quintet is a narrow, stylized sans serif font made up of thin, looping lines. This font tries to walk the line between retro and modern and to incorporate some hand drawn imperfections without being too obvious about it.
 
I kicked off designing without any particular inspiration in mind but, as time went on, started associating it in my head with an old-timey, swingy jazz aesthetic. Think the Jeeves and Wooster throwback theme song and opening credits or the music of Stéphane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt (who the name is a nod to). That connection made pairing it up with abstract musical instruments seem like the natural choice and the commercial package also includes those illustrations. Quintet

Welcome to Sacremende, a chunky, slightly messy display font. As the name implies, this font was inspired by a retro California aesthetic and, in particular, old surf rock posters.
 
To highlight the vintage feel, the font package comes with a distressed option for a well-worn effect. This font is all caps but includes unique styles for upper and lowercase letters. The webfont kit includes both versions but for performance reasons, I would recommend using regular for the web.

Space Time is a hand drawn font with a lot of variety. I started designing the regular version with the characters slightly touching but it wasn't quite what I had in my head. I’d imagined tightly spaced letters with overlapping shadows and the only way to get that effect was to create a second version with stackable layers. That means this download includes regular, base, outline, shadow, and stars files. Plus, the base and outline can be used for stacking or work fine as standalone fonts.
 
This font is all caps but the lowercase letters feature alternative styles.

Space Time

Thornback is a hand-drawn font that uses quick, scribbled strokes to create it's slightly messy sans-serif characters. The detailed letters make it a good choice for headlines but it's also bold enough to add a homemade touch to smaller text blocks while keeping things legible.
